A ONE YEAR ONLY EDITION - 1967 GRAND PRIX CONVERTIBLE

The Grand Prix was introduced to the Pontiac line in 1963 to spice up the Pontiac offerings. 1967 dawned and Pontiac management decided to spice up the Grand Prix line by offering the a convertible model to compliment the hardtop coupes. The Pontiac design again featured it's wide tread, beaked nose facia, and unique tail treatment. Another design favorite are the hidden headlights, slotted running lights, and the "Poncho" body. The Pontiac Catalina and Grand Prix shared the 121 inch wheelbase. Power for the Grand Prix came from a 360 bhp 428. Sales of the $3813 convertible and the $3549 hardtop rose 15 percent from 1966 with total production amounting to 42981. For 1967, Pontiac was third place in US car sales! However, the sales increase for 1967 showed only 5856 orders for the convertible model. Pontiac dropped the Grand Prix convertible after '67 making this an only year edition. Take a look at this Grand Prix for it is really a beautiful car. The "Poncho" body makes the hugh expanse of sheet metal past the front doors look absolutely sexy. Black vinyl interiors were popular for years on all makes of sixties cars and this black pleated interior mimics black leather very well. When remembering Pontiac, models like this makes one realize that Pontiac use to be quite a car manufacturer.
