1955 Volkswagen Beetle NCJ 51 For Sale
Description
Only one owner and showing less than 85000 miles, this "VW Deluxe Sedan" was recently found at a property in Hereford . Stored in a garage, covered in blankets, the car is in surprisingly good original order. Initial inspection revealed a freely turning engine with compression and hydraulic brakes in good working condition. The leaded fuel had, however, evaporated leaving a red powdery deposit of lead oxide, but after flushing the fuel system and replacing the faulty distributor and six-volt battery the engine fired up and the car was found to drive well. "NCJ 51" will be sold on the 14th August 2010 with a new MOT as well as the original purchase invoice from Bengry Bros Ltd of Leominster dated 19:7:1955 detailing a deal in which an "Austin 10, 1937" was part-exchanged. Other paperwork with the vehicle includes several old tax discs, two partly completed service record booklets as well as MOT certificates detailing that the car covered only 26 miles between Nov. 17 th 1987 and Jan 3rd 1991 (84965 Miles). This presumably the distance to and from the testing station covered as a result of the VW having fastidious owners who by that time evidently were not using the car but wished to keep her roadworthy. This time-warp vehicle is to be sold on Saturday 14th August 2010 at a sale of over 2000 lots of Antique and household effects to be held by Nigel Ward & Co at their popular Herefordshire Salerooms.
