Hawk AC Ace
Description
This beautiful Hawk AC Ace was built by Adam Cleden over an eighteen month period to an exacting standard and completed in 1998. It runs a 2.5 litre Triumph engine which was fully rebuilt and balanced in 2007 and is fitted with gas flowed, unleaded cylinder head with a Piper camshaft. Twin SU carburettors are used. It has a four speed gearbox with overdrive on third and fourth gears. The second owner was an equerry to Prince Charles and he maintained the car meticulously which is detailed in the history file. It then passed to a retired investment banker two years ago who continued the care and attention. It is fitted with full weather gear with a mohair hood, fitted sidescreens and a mohair full tonneau all in dark blue. A rare hard top is included which is painted silver. The interior is created in period with blue leather bucket seats, piped carpet and the correct trim design behind the seats. The instruments and switches are in period. The car carries a period registration number, three letters, three numbers, and is registered as an historic vehicle and so is exempt from Road Fund Licence. For customers wishing to import into a European country, the vehicle is registered with the UK authorities as being a 1968 motor car and so is over thirty years old. This Hawk Ace was featured in the August 2000 edition of Classic and Sportscar magazine. It is well known to the factory near Tunbridge Wells.
