Mercedes W124 300TE SLS Accumulator replacement

Description

Tips for removing and installing the rear SLS accumulators. When done, be aware of the vertical movement of the hydraulics if adjusting the switch or linkage. Dispose of oil and accumulators properly. While the accumulator failure is common, first check the fluid cleanliness, filter, & level, system leaks, the strut boots and leaks, and the pump before replacement. My symptoms were no auto leveling and stiff ride or no dampening. After the replacement, the ride was smooth over bumps. Note: I am not a professional mechanic, this video is my personal experience and tips which may help you do your replacement. Do your research, read the factory service manual and online posts before attempting this work. If you are not confident enough, get help. It's not difficult but there are safety precautions, it is dirty work, and physically strenuous if you don't have a lift. IMPORTANT: Safely support your car with car ramps or jack stands! Use protective eye wear as dirt and oil will drip when you're under the car.
