Building the 1993 Toyota JZX90 Chaser
Description
This is the build process of the 1993 Toyota JZX90 Chaser Tourer V 2.5L turbo inline 6. As a car itself, many outside Japan (myself included) would not have seen one in the flesh, for the very fact that it was a Japanese domestic model only - which is surprising due to the fact that it is rear-wheel-drive, has independent rear suspension, larger than 2 litres - it would have made a good BMW / Mercedes-Benz / Alfa Romeo competitor! - Trust Toyota to be canny and export the likes of the 'bland but reliable' Camry and Corolla models overseas - keeping the good stuff for Japan!!! As a model, it was one I was actually on the lookout for (in spite of never seeing an actual one before), having in 2006 build up the closely related (and more common - familiar to some from the Gran Turismo series) Toyota JZX90 Mark II version of the car. As it was, in spite of having a completely different body to the Mark II, everything else was the same - underbody, even the interior!!! Nevertheless, I made a few internal differences between the two, being that this Chaser gained an internal TV set, and automatic transmission (complete with a foot mounted handbrake!). As it happened, it was an enjoyable car to build, and complements the JZX90 Mark II well. Actually, as I discover now, there is a third JZX90 body, the Cresta - which I believe Aoshima also has in model form - which I most certainly will be looking out for! The soundtrack utilized for this is Evanescence - "Everybody's Fool" (2003)
