quick walkthrough of the features of a friction type lsd, this only applies to street lsd, most race lsd don't behave the same and you will be able to lock a flange while turning the other one, just like a standart diff because racing lsd's do not have any preload applied to them. Street ones do so that it's much smoother when the lsd locks up. Anyways, hope this is informative and will help a bunch of fellow gear heads!!
