Alfa Romeo Spider
Description
There are cars, which are totally unreasonable and do not even try to be. They're intended for fun. The Alfa Romeo Spider certainly is one of these. The latest generation has been around since 2006. Both the headlights and the rims are eye-catchers. The soft-top makes the Spider an ideal companion on hot days. The open-top model sells for 31950 Euros in Germany, exactly 3 thousand more than its hardtop sibling, the Brera. Sounds like a good investment to us. The roof folds away automatically and vanishes completely into a separate compartment -- without sacrificing any space. The trunk continues to hold 253 liters. We tested the Spider with the smaller of the two gasoline engines, which has 1.8 liters of displacement and delivers 200 horsepower. This engine is Alfa's way of showing that the Spider is not so unreasonable after all. Compared to the previous power plant, a 2-point-2 liter naturally aspirated engine, the new engine boasts superior performance thanks to turbocharging and direct fuel injection. For the sprint to 100 kilometers per hour, the Spider requires only 7.8 seconds and is one second faster. And it reaches a higher top speed - 235 as opposed to 224 kilometers per hour.
