The new Peugeot 508 part 2
Description
The upcomming Peugeot 508. This is the "5 by Peugeot" concept car which has been unveiled at the Geneva motor show and which previews the new Peugeot 508. The Peugeot 508 concept is described by Peugeot as "another indication of the changing face of Peugeot" and as "providing an insight into the marque's future ambitions in the large luxury vehicle segment". As the 508 - the successor to the 407 - it will be a Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Insignia and Renault Laguna rival. Powered by Peugeot's so-called Hybrid4 technology, which will go into production in 2011 in the Peugeot 3008, it has a 163bhp 2.0 litre HDi FAP engine linked to a 37bhp electric motor. The combination produces a maximum of 200bhp, an electric only mode for low speed operation and four-wheel drive when required. It averages 74.3 mpg and 99g/km of CO2. Peugeot says the Hybrid4 technology can be fitted to a range of naturally-aspirated engines according to market requirements, as well as to different models of cars on different platforms. The car also highlights some future Peugeot design directions, with the grille in particular reminiscent of the Peugeot SR1 concept car's, which was unveiled earlier this year.
