Buckler Mk 5 sports car run. Ford Special. 1950's. 100E engine.
Description
This is a gentle spin round the block in my trusty 1954 Buckler Mark 5, which cut it's teeth in the 1172 Formula races at Silverstone in the 1950's. This is one of the 300 to 400 cars designed by Derek Buckler of Reading England and this model was designed in 1946. It has a tubular space-frame style chassis and aluminium body ( you get a reflected glimpse at the end). The engine is a Ford 100E, 1172cc sidevalve( flathead) in mild tune with twin SU carbs. The gearbox is a 3 speed Buckler close ratio. Suspension is by a single transverse leaf spring at each end. The front suspension is Buckler independent split axle type. Brakes are rod operated drums. Weight is about 9.5 cwt. Speed through gears in road tune 1st gear 45 mph, 2nd gear 70 mph, 3rd gear 85 mph. I have owned this car for about 25 years and still find it huge fun to drive. more info about Buckler cars on www.bucklercars.com Filmed some years ago on a Casio EX-Z850 pocket camera.
