Alex Kapadia starts race 1 from fifth on the grid and second in the SR3 class. He passes Sam Hancock and Jamie Patterson and moves into the lead of the SR3 class. He builds the lead until he hands the car over to co-driver Dan Laddiman at the pitstop. Unfortunately shortly afterwards the engine failed forcing retirement from the race whilst leading.
