1968 Mercury Monterey Idle & Slideshow
Description
1968 Mercury Monterey owned by JP. High-compression X-code 390, Edelbrock 600 4V, cast iron '61 Thunderbird intake manifold, cast iron stock log exhaust manifolds, 2-1/4 inch dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb glasspacks. C6 rebuilt by Master Shift in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with Kevlar bands, a shift kit, and a torque converter upgrade. Rear suspension stock with station wagon springs. Front suspension stock with polygraphite bushings and coils cut down by one full coil for a drop of 1.5 inches. Stock steel wheels with the fattest white letter Firestones they would hold, amber semi-truck fog lights in the high beam locations (from servicelighting.com), Pertronix ignitor, and lots more. The stock 9-inch rear has 2.75 gears. The car runs great, idles smoothly at 500 RPM, and gets about 15 miles per gallon when I don't stomp the go pedal very often. It has 69000 original miles, and I am the second owner. I bought the car in 2000 and it came from Denver with 61000 miles on it. And... it's for sale.
