Night Trail Running Gear 160 Lumen Budget LED Lamp - Part II

Description

This is part I of my night trail running gear. I usually run alone, sometimes at night, in the forest without street lights. I run from 13-20 miles at a time. Usually, a night run will be for only 5 miles or at the tail end of a longer run. I wasn't happy with the amount of light I was getting from my 40 lumen headlamp. Trying to find the right headlamp was very confusing and I felt that I needed to buy a lamp for throw and one for flood. These two lamps would need to use the same battery size and now we're talking real cost and weight. I decided to try my $7.50 costco 160 lumen light (which includes 3 aa batteries) on my boda belt. At 5 oz, it was almost too light to feel on my waist. The performance is great and you can't beat the price! My belt with light weighs 1 lb 3 oz and the water bottle weighs 1 lb 1 oz. In addition, I carry a Spot 2 GPS Messenger (sometimes), a signal mirror, a pen, a piece of notebook paper, a whistle, an emergency blanket, a small pocket knife and some cash. I also have a Garmin 305 GPS watch and an Nike+iPod. I run with Nike Air Pegasus (Trail Version). MtnTrailRunner
