BARNSTABLE - A 39-year-old man wanted for allegedly kidnapping a Hopkinton woman will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court this morning after leading police on a high-speed chase last night. Barnstable police said Phillip DePasquale allegedly smashed into a detective's car in an attempt to get away when the chase began on Main Street in Hyannis around 9 pm DePasquale was led by officers into district court in Barnstable Village at about 9 this morning. DePasquale was the focus of a statewide police search yesterday for his alleged role in the kidnapping of a mentally disabled in Hopkinton woman on January 26, according to police. The state police violent fugitive squad had been searching for him and he was on the state's most wanted list. DePasquale, who knows the woman, is accused of tying and gagging her in an abandoned trailer after he persuaded her to accompany him to an ATM and get money from her account. The woman was able to free herself after several hours and walked through a snowstorm to get help, police said. Sgt. Michael Riley said detectives spotted DePasquale last night during a six-hour surveillance, part of an investigation into numerous smash and grabs from motor vehicles reported in Yarmouth and Hyannis over the past couple of days.
