First night's run on the Mille Miglia, from the start in Brescia to the first checkpoint in Verona. We arrived in the historic centre of Verona at 10:40PM, the piazza with filled with thousands of people, the night air punctuated by the smell of old cars running far too rich, lots of hydrocarbons from the tailpipes and the smell of asbestos...yummy! The 300+ entrants would go on for a very short night's rest in Ferrara, we called it quits here and settled for a very late dinner of pizza in the piazza and watched the final cars roll through well past midnight.
