NSU Ro80 Discovered in Chipstead Woods, Surrey UK Part 1
Description
I found out about this Ro80 many years ago. I was told about it by a work colleague, they lived nearby and her son remebered the car being there from when he was still at school! The woods used to be a common dumping ground for stolen cars. I went along with friend Clive Thomas, his son Philip (filming) and a wheelbarrow full of tools to remove the engine and anything else of use we could find. The thinking was if it had been a young car at the time it ended up there, the engine could well have been low mileage and been of some use for parts. On stripping the engine we found the housings to have virtually no wear, but they had (as pretty much expected) corroded beyond use. Nonetheless, we found a few bits of use and it made for an interesting day out!
