Triumph Herald Prototypes - Proving Trip Through Africa

Description

1958 saw a remarkable expedition of two Triumph Herald prototypes; a saloon and coupe travel 9000 miles through Africa from Cape Town to Tangier. If the cars could manage this trip then the production cars could manage anything - that was the thinking behind the journey from the management of Standard Triumph. Poor roads, rain and across the Sahara desert the cars (backed up with an Atlas van and Standard Pennant - although the Atlas van was the vehicle that required the most work and rescuing). Very little was changed to the prototype cars with the Herald being launched the following year. www.triumph-herald.com
