1956 STUDEBAKER GOLDEN HAWK, 1 OF 4071
Description
STUDEBAKER MOTORS WAS NEARING THE END OF THE LINE IN '56. A LACK OF FUNDS COULD ONLY REFRESH YET AGAIN THIS BODY STYLING THAT FIRST APPEARED IN '53. AND YET, AMAZINGLY ENOUGH STUDE OFFERED NOT ONLY THE TOP OF THE LINE GOLDEN HAWK BUT FLIGHT HAWKS, SKY HAWKS AND POWER HAWKS. ONLY A SQUARED GRILLE DISTINGUISHED THESE HAWKS FROM THE '53 DESIGN. GOLDEN HAWKS WERE POWERED BY A PACKARD 352 CID V8 ENGINE THAT PRODUCED 275 HORSES. FLIGHT HAWKS, AT THE BOTTOM OF STUDE COUPES, WAS POWERED BY A CHAMPION 6 L-HEAD, 185 CID, 101 HP. SKY HAWKS HAD A 289 CID V8 WITH EITHER 195 OR 210 HORSES. POWER HAWKS COULD BE FOUND WITH A 259 CID V8 WITH 170 OR 185 HP. THIS GOLDEN HAWK HAD A $3061 PRICE TAG AND AGAIN ONLY 4071 GOLDENS WERE MADE. DESPITE IT'S SMALLER SIZE LOOK, THIS HAWK EASILY SEATS FIVE AND WAS PROMOTED AS A " FAMILY SPORTS CAR ". FEATURES ON THIS HAWK INCLUDED FRONT FENDER MOUNTED TURN SIGNALS, A NICE TOUCH CHECK-MARK TRIM ON REAR QUARTER PANEL, AND SMALL FINS ABOVE THE TAIL LIGHTS. AND HOW ABOUT THAT ENGINE TURNED METAL DASH. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING THIS RARE STUDEBAKER GOLDEN HAWK.
