1930 BUICK BUSINESS COUPE - NOT A PREGNANT BUICK ANY MORE
Description
See previous video on the '29 Buick, the " pregnant " Buick. 1930 BUICKS HAD A FRESH RE-DESIGN TO RID THE UNPOPULAR PREGNANT LOOK. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEW LOOCK NEW SERIES 40, 50, AND 60 MODELS REPLACED THE '29 SERIES 116121, AND 129. THE 50 & 60 MODELS ARE POWERED BY 99 BHP 331 CID STRAIGHT EIGHTS. NOTICE THE RADIATOR CAP HAS A LARGE 8 ON IT. THE 40 SERIES ARE POWERED BY AN 81 BHP 257 CID ALSO A SIX. BUICK RACED AT THE BRICKYARD, INDY 500 RACE AFTER A 17 YEAR ABSENCE BUT FINISHED IN 14TH PLACE. HOWEVER, MODEL YEAR PRODUCTION, DESPITE THE GREAT DEPRESSION, SOLD 181743 UNITS PLACING THIRD IN THE INDUSTRY BEHIND FORD AND CHEVY. NEW THIS YEAR WAS AN ADJUSTABLE DRIVER'S SEAT THAT WOULD BE INSTALLED IN ALL BUICKS. ACCESSORY WIRE WHEELS WERE OPTIONAL BUT BUICK WHEELS USUALLY WERE THE WOOD SPOKED UNITS AND HAD DEMOUNTABLE RIMS. LUGGAGE RACKS WERE ANOTHER OPTION AVAILABLE FOR ALL MODELS. A BUICK BUSINESS COUPE LIKE THIS ONE WASN'T A BIG SELLER COMPARED TO 4 AND 5 PASSENGER SEDANS, OPERA COUPES, OR THE 7 PASSENGER MODEL 30-60 WHICH WAS A SORT OF LIMO MODEL. SO I WOULD SAY THAT THIS BUISNESS COUPE IS A RARE BIRD. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING THIS UN-PREGNANT BUICK, AND RARE BUSINESS COUPE.
