Stanton's 1st Hotel Finally Open
Description
After nearly 3 years of construction delays and even a bankruptcy, Stanton's first hotel is finally open and checking in business. "They had some obstacles in the way. Oil boom hurt us more than anything because we couldn't keep the employees to work on the building. Undoubtly, they had a very good banker." The Baymont Inn & Suites is open for business which is a relief to City Administrator Danny Fryar. "We have family reunions every weekend at our community center, no place to stay and it's going to help our [Old Soreheads Trade Days], homecoming, it will help people traveling a long ways to the ballgames. [We] have quite a few trucking companies around here that have moved in and some of them are staying here already." The hotel features 70 rooms from basic to suites to small apartments and also features a business center, boardroom, pool and fitness center. Blais Margagliano is among the first guests at the hotel. "There aint nothing like a new building. Everything's fresh and clean. What was convenient was how it was right off and you didn't have to circle your way thru any town, get lost, not knowing where you're going. After the experience I had in Midland-Odessa, I was happy with this place. It was real convenient." Fryar hopes it was all worth the wait. "The oil boom is back in. There's a lot of things going on. We just hope it's a big success and we wish them well." If you are interested in making a reservation, call 756-1100 or visit www.baymontinns.com.
