1951 CROSLEY SUPER CONVERTIBLE, MAKERS OF RADIOS AND REFRIGERATORS
Description
THIS CROSLEY SUPER CONVERTIBLE IS ONE OF 391 CONVERTIBLES MADE THIS YEAR. CROSLEY MADE RADIOS AND REFRIGERATORS FOR YEARS BEFORE MAKING THE FIRST ECONOMY CAR IN 1939. THE MAINSTAY ENGINE FOR ALL OF CROSLEY'S LIFE WAS AN L HEAD FOUR CYLINDER, 44 CID, PRODUCING A MEASLEY 26 HP. WHICH WAS ADEQUATE ENOUGH FOR A 1400 LB. CAR. THERE WERE 7 MODELS OF CROSLEY PRODUCED THIS YEAR: BUSINESS COUPE, 2-DOOR SUPER SEDAN, 2-DOOR WAGON, 2-DOOR SUPER WAGON, SUPER CONVERTIBLE COUPE - ( SHOWN ), HOTSHOT ROADSTER, AND SUPER SPORTS ROADSTER. THE EARLY FIFTIES WAS A TIME WHEN THE AUTO MAKERS ESPECIALLY THE BIG THREE, HEAVILY DISCOUNTED CAR PRICING, AND CONSUMERS DEMANDED LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL CARS. THIS CAUSED THE DEMISE OF THE CROSLEY CAR THE NEXT YEAR, 1952. THIS EXTREMELY RARE SUPER CONVERTIBLE APPEARS BRAND NEW. PERHAPS, THIS IS THE ONLY '51 SUPER CONVERTIBLE IN EXISTENCE. SO, FROM THE MAKER OF QUALITY RADIOS AND FRIGES, THIS LITTLE CAR HAD A GOOD RUN FOR 13 YEARS. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING THIS RARE CROSLEY.
