Dave from Saddleback Leather Co. suggests this place just outside of Truth or Consequences, NM for Overland Expo 2011 or 2012? It's a hidden treasure that everybody in New Mexico knows about but not many others. It's 30 minutes from the Gila National Forest, 5 minutes from a 40 mile long lake, sitting at the base of mountains, Canyons and trails everywhere. Ghost towns, The Rio Grande runs right through the town and so there would be innertubing and canoeing for the families, shopping, spas, it's cheap, loads of small motels and high end places, golfing, boat rentals. Tons of camping spots, lots of natural hot springs 5 minutes away Hiking, weather is cool at night and lower 80's during the day, lots of bathrooms and places for cooking and displays and camping. The towns nearby are wanting publicity and so they would love the traffic. It is a top notch place that would be great for families to come to. The New Mexico government is investing millions into the area to make it the next Santa Fe and also a huge family destination.
