Nissan Vanette Cargo 2.3d Crash Damage Repairs. Front/Passenger Side (NSF) bump.
Description
My mate somehow always manages to damage every vehicle he has ever owned/driven, his work van is no exception! (I would never ever let him drive any of my cars that's for sure!) Anyway the damage caused this time when a parked Porsche suddenly just pulled out from the kerbside attempting to do a u-turn as he was about to pass, was not too serious a collision. As his insurance paid out and let him keep the van, we decided to see if we could have a go at fixing it, rather than him being without a van. After removing the bumper the plastic section just needed pushing back out into its original shape (then melted/welded the broken plastic brackets and split in bumper back together). The inner metal part of the bumper was bent all over the place, but a couple of hours using hammers, bars, a vice, grips, and pliers and we manage to straighten that up too. We did what we could with the bonnet, wing and door, just to get back the basic shape, although it would always be apparent it that it had been in a crash. We decided this would be good enough as it would only be a matter of time before he wrecks it again! Anyway for a 1 Day DIY novice repair we quite satisfied, the hard bit was actually getting the replacement lamp from the scrappers and then getting it to fit into the vehicle. That was harder than it looked and took a bit of rejigging, especially making sure the bonnet would still close. The bonnet was still a little bent out of shape, but could always be changed at a later ...
