Auto Motor und Sport - Prodrive ATD System

Description

ATD™ is the next generation of torque-based vehicle stability system developed by Prodrive. Taking inputs from sensors monitoring wheel speed, yaw rate, lateral acceleration and steering wheel angle, ATD™ compares what the driver is expecting with what the vehicle is providing. The system then modulates the torque to individual wheels using a sophisticated differential control system. For instance, in a four wheel drive application, if the car is understeering, then the system will push more torque to the back wheels, making it behave more like a rear wheel drive car; if the car is oversteering then more torque will be pushed to the front wheels. In practice the driver does not notice this seamless transition.
