Welcome to my review of the Toyota 2000GT. This is quite possibly the classiest car to ever come from Japan. So let's see how Hong Kong's interpretation of a classic gets on. A little back story first... The Toyota 2000GT was a car manufactured by Yamaha. This joint project only produced 337 total examples worldwide between 1967 and 1970. In it's brief life, the 2000GT enjoyed success on the racing circuit and on the silver screen as a featured vehicle in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. So for one of the first Japanese cars to utilize something called "styling" and teaming it with performance, it can be said that this is truly Japan's first Supercar. Naturally, AUTOart Models caters primarily to the Supercar crowd and have done so in resepcts to the 2000GT for several years now. However, the model I own is a brand new version of the 2000GT. This is a 2010 release of the 2000GT, the "Updated" version. While I don't own an older version of this model, I can tell just from viewing pictures of the older model that this updated version has much more emphasis on detail. AUTOart has gone berserk in the past year in terms of perfection. The detailing on the engine , lights, dashboard, wheels - everything is perfect. Sure the price jumped a few dollars...but it is WELL worth the extra money to get the updated version. I absolutely recommend this car. Without a doubt. If you do buy it...get it in white.
