Rover 220 Coupe Exhaust
Description
Gently revving a Rover 220 T16 (2.0l 16v DOHC petrol) engine after an overhaul. Timing belt had snapped previously, thus requiring to change 8 bent valves, push rod bearings, piston rings (not a direct consequence of a snapped belt, it's just they were worn out pretty badly) and a bunch of other parts. And.. something's wrong. When you rev-up the engine and release the gas pedal - black smoke (unburnt fuel) is thrown out through the exhaust. I suspect that a timing belt was fitted wrong (might be one (or two) tooth off), will check that tomorrow. Any other ideas why this might be happening? PS: It was pretty cold at the moment, so please ignore the white smoke - engine's cold.
