1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S ""340 Drop Top"
Description
Mopar's 340 is a special small block. Small is size, big in spirit, these little engines were built to be quick and nimble. Many experts suggest that because of insurance rates, Chrysler underestimated the HP on the 340 cars. Although never rated higher than 290 from the factory in the "six pak" configuration, there are reports of 245 HP cars doing well of 325HP at the crank! This first year production of the 340 is wrapped up in a sweet 'lil Barracuda "Formula S". This was the first unique body style for the Barracuda. Previous models where thinly disguised Valiants, that didn't compete well with the Mustang. Barracudas and 340s would be paired in a lot of fine Mopars from '67 forward and this early version is an outstanding survivor! On top of that, it is a convertible and when she idles, she is true to her 340 heritage. In other words, the sound is sweet rumble announcing to all that a 340 is under the hood.
