Caught: 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe at GM Proving Grounds

www.edmunds.com We knew it wouldn't be long. Just months after its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe is already well on its way to production. Caught while testing at GM's Milford proving grounds, this prototype of the Cadillac CTS coupe (or CTC, as it might be called) wore only light camouflage, a good indication that it won't change much compared to the concept. This doesn't come as a surprise, as Cadillac officials hinted as much when the car debuted as a concept. Nothing new is expected from the A-pillars forward because the coupe will get the same grille treatment and front clip as the CTS sedan. Although the concept had a pair of vertically stacked headlights with neon marker bulbs, the production version is expected to get more traditional xenon-gas items. If Cadillac really steps it up, maybe the CTC will be the first production car with full LEDs like the Escalade Platinum. Given the black camouflage over the rear end, there might be a few changes in store for the hindquarters of the CTS coupe. Hopefully the massive quarter panels will get slimmed down a little as they make this midsize coupe look clumsy from behind. The hatchbacklike profile isn't doing the CTS coupe any favors either, so maybe that will change, too. One thing that won't change is the location of the exhaust, as all these prototypes have the same center-mounted pipes as the concept. Don't expect many changes under the hood either.
