Napier Lion Aero Engine run
Description
A Napier Lion Aero Engine running at Brooklands Museum. This is the same sort of engine which is in the Napier Railton in the backround. It took three years to restore it to running order. Sorry about the start up but it made me jump. The Napier Lion was used in the Schneider Trophy in the 1920's. It powered such planes the Supermarine Sea Lion 3, S.4 and S.5. The S.5 won the race in 1927, but afterwards the engine was at the end of its development. So a couple of them were fitted in race cars and land speed record cars.
