Volkswagen polo cold start problem (Fixed)
Description
www.CarGoFast.blogspot.com Volkswagen polo MK4 1.4 cl My polo wont start in the morning unless i remove the air filter, place my hand over the carburetor and turn the key (sucking more fuel into the engine). Or if i keep trying to start it for ten minuites killing the battery and waking the whole street up. once started if i touch the accelerator or rev the engine it cuts out and the oil light flashes. iv checked the oil and its at normal level. if i leave the engine running for a while the car works fine. Until the next morning where i have to start the whole process again. iv took the carbouretor out and cleaned it and checked the gasket for air leaks and its fine. iv also added a cleaning solution to my fuel and cleaned the air system by pouring the solution into the carb uretor as indicated on the solution (redex) Any advice would be much appreciated UPDATE The problem was the engine coolant temperature sensor. It was damaged and telling the computer that the engine was hot all the time and therefore not injecting enough fuel for it to start in cold conditions. these readings dont show on the dash as those readings are from a different temperature sensor. Unpluging it makes the computer think the engine is very cold and injects alot of fuel. It starts with the sensor unpluged but it uses a rediculous amount of fuel. I got a replacement sensor from ebay for £10 and fitted it myself in ten minuites. It is held on by a plastic clip and a rubber ring so there is no need ...
