Maserati Granturismo S Ride & Acceleration
Description
Another awesome on-board experience from Supercars UK. This time I record a fantastic Maserati Granturismo S in black with black rims and rosso red leather interior. I quickly show the outside of the car before we set off around the country roads of Wiltshire. This is one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard. In the low revs it just rumbles but when you put the hammer down it growls and barks until you ease of the throttle and downshift and it barks once again and then the sports exhaust just crackles and pops from the heat. In auto mode the engine barley makes a noise but when you hit the sport button a valve opens in the exhaust and all hell breaks loose. The power plant for all this noise is a 4.7 litre V8 engine up front producing around 440bhp. As demonstrated in the video it will accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds leading onto a top speed of around 190mph. An improvement on the standard Granturismo's 5.2 seconds time and 172mph top speed. The Granturismo is no small-fry, it is about the same size as a Bentley GT. For its sheer size it does surprisingly hold the road really well and the handling is spot on. It feels planted on the straights and then it still stays glued to the road when you swing it through a tight corner on a country lane. A special thanks to Mr Alan Pierce of Dick Lovett Ferrari Maserati in Swindon for taking the time to show me a couple of the finest cars to ever roll out of Modena in the past few months.
