MORE DETROIT AUTO SHOW: www.edmunds.com Jaguar has unveiled its XKR and XFR at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, as well as the 2010 XK and a lineup of new engines. Jaguar Managing Director Mike O'Driscoll says the new models are "true to the Jaguar philosophy of creating beautiful, fast cars." The new AJ-V8 Gen III direct-injection V8 in the XF and XK is now a 5.0-liter engine making 380 horsepower in the XF and 385 in the XK. The diesel engine is a 3.0-liter AJ-V6D Gen II power plant with twin sequential turbocharging that makes 272 hp. The XFR and XKR models get a supercharged version of the V8 that makes 510 hp and get to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds for the XFR, 4.6 for the XKR. The 2010 XF gets a Portfolio edition that adds a further layer of luxury onto the Jaguar. All XKs get a new front-end design, new LED taillights and a new lower rear body valance. In the UK, the base XF starts at the equivalent of $41200, while the XFR is priced at $86850. The XK starts at $86850, and the XKR is priced at $104985 for the coupe version and $113670 for the convertible version. All will be on sale in late ...
