Front Control Arm Replacement on Pontiac Sunfire or Chevy Cavalier 1AAuto.com
Description
www.1aauto.com shows you how to replace a front control arm on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is exactly the same for any 1995-2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is also generally the same for any vehicle with a macpherson front strutsuspension. As you can see by the video this is an involved replacement but it is not impossible for the do-it-yourselfer. Access to a lift is a big plus but not necessary. You may need to replace the front control arms on your car if you are feeling a pulling when braking and that pull is transferring to your hands through the steering wheel. This repair is moderate. It requires a floor jack, jack stands, and then basic tools, wrenches, hammers, pry bars. Beyond that it does require a "pickle fork" or ball joint fork which is a more specialized tool that not everyone has in their DIY tool set.
