1950 Desoto Custom Deluxe - 69K Miles - SOLD!
Description
Desoto cars were named after a 16th century explorer credited with discovering the Mississippi River. The 1950 Desoto 4 Door Custom Deluxe cars were the top trim model Desoto produced by the Chrysler Corporation. They were powered by Chrysler L-Head 236.7, 6 cylinder engines delivering 109 bhp (81kW) at 3600 rpm--as is this one. At the turn of the 20th Century, the Desoto was one of the most popular automotive brands in America. A little known fact is that when they did wind tunnel tests, it showed the original design of the Desoto was actually more aerodynamic when the wind blew from the back of the car. Thus, Chrysler's engineers turned the body around and not only were they more aerodynamic, they were simply great for driving and to look at. Known for its unique styling and luxurious rides, it did not take long for this innovative car to catch fire with the public making it a very popular cruising vehicle. This stately midnight blue 1950 Desoto Custom Deluxe also has a working radio and heater, fluid drive, Coker tires, 6 volt system, dual exhaust and only about 69K Miles! Much of the upgrades are not visibly evident but you can tell by how the motor purrs and how this car runs and drives super! The interior is in very good condition and she's a grand ol' gal! Richie Cunningham would be so proud if his dad owned "this" Desoto! They just don't make cars like the Desoto anymore! They are inspirational even across the generations.
