Maier TA4 Four Cylinder
Description
Purchase this engine from www.ministeam.com MiniSteam The 4 cylinders axially piston motor with tumbling spider CLASSIC TA 4 is modeled after aircraft engines from the 40's and 30's. These engines were interesting because they were designed with less frontal area than radial engines. The Piezo ignition system built in the base is propelled with a toothed belt. Ignition is timed by a central distributor. The speed regulation is made by a valve on the gas tank. The gas tank features a pressure gage. Two gear rims fix the tumbling spider. Ball joints connect tumbling spider and the pistons. The elegant course of motion of the four-cylinder is particularly emphasized by the open building construction. The parts moving in opposite directions, like the tumbling spider, pistons, crosshead and valve rods have an interesting mechanical interaction. The engine works in a pleasant deep exhaust tone. This model motor is made of aluminum, brass and stainless steel. The engine runs on a 70% Butane 30% Propane mixture that can easily be purchased at a camping outdoors shop. This mixture allows the engine to run in the house with a window open. The spark plug is actuated by a piezo igniter.
