1947 CADILLAC SERIES 62 SEDAN, PONTOON FENDERS EQUALS STYLE
Description
THIS HONEY BEIGE '47 CADILLAC SHOWS OFF IT'S PONTOON FENDERS. THESE FENDERS WERE STAMPED SHEET METAL THAT WAS BOLTED TO THE CAR'S BODY. THE ILLUSION IS THAT THESE FENDERS MIGHT BE ONE PIECE THAT WERE ACTUALLY PART OF THE BODY. THESE PONTOON FENDERS GAVE THE STYLE OF THIS LUXURY CAR PIZZAZZ IN THE POST-WAR WORLD. THIS AND THE EGG CRATE GRILLE WERE THE HALLMARK FEATURES THAT WOULD INSTANTLY IDENTIFY THE CAR AS A CADILLAC, THE "STANDARD OF THE WORLD". THE WEIGHT OF THIS HEAVY CAR IS 4235 LBS. AND 25834 OF THESE 4-DOOR SEDANS WERE BUILT THIS YEAR FOR A DEALER SUGGESTED PRICE OF $2523. THERE WAS ONLY ONE ENGINE AVAILABLE AND THAT WAS A 346 CID V-8 PRODUCING 150 HP. THIS CAR IS VERY FAMILIAR TO ME SINCE I ONCE OWNED A SUPER RARE '46 CADILLAC SERIES 62 CONVERTIBLE OF WHICH ONLY 1342 WERE MADE. THERE ARE VERY FEW DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE FORTY SIX AND FORTY SEVEN: ONE LESS HORIZONTAL GRILLE BAR, CADILLAC NAME FROM BLOCK LETTERS TO SCRIPT, TRUNK EMBLEM, TO NAME A FEW. THIS SEDAN IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A POST-WAR LUXURY CAR AND HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS VIDEO. THANKS FOR VIEWING THIS RESTORED CADDY.
