Entry from: Koblenz, Germany Entry Title: "Koblenz - old and inviting" Entry: "Koblenz -- Old and Inviting - the intersection of 2 great rivers We arrived in Koblenz anxious to put Berlin behind us -- the train trip with one change at Cologne was enjoyable and the scenery was fascinating. Much of the scenery was a white frozen landscape, frozen ponds looking like a giant's blurry mirror. Along the Rhine, we saw vineyards, now dormant of course, the slopes of which are between 15 and 25 degrees (so judged by Mr. Numbers -- Brendon). We wondered if there was a special employment category for people with one leg shorter than the other come harvest time, or perhaps there is a worker's compensation injury category especially for wine workers who work on such slopes. It started to snow as we arrived in Koblenz, snow there is a pretty white rather than the black sludge of Berlin -- Thank God! Koblenz is undergoing a significant transformation; it is to host Germany's National Garden show from late April to the end of October 2011. This is a singular event in Germany and Koblenz is taking it seriously. There were massive holes in the ground and metal barriers and bollards everywhere.
