This was filmed Saturday June 6, 2009 at the Fleetwood Country Cruize in London, Ontario 1957 Monarch Turnpike Cruiser Engine: 368ci V8 295HP Transmission: Merco-O-Matic (Key board push button) Original price: $4538.00 Canadian Monarchs (Mercury) had single headlights, as did some American '57 Mercury's as for some reason dual quad headlights where illegal, but there are some rare Monarchs and Mercurys here in Canada with dual Quad headlights, as well as the common dual quad headlights in the US Mercurys of '57, even some rare '57 Fairlanes had dual quad headlights as a option!, that info came from user monarch1957 ah one of my favorites from the 50's this is the Canadian version of the '57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, basically the same car, just the Canadian version, that also has Monarch lettering and badges, but overall this was basically a production concept car, as it featured many unique advancements for the time, like optional seat belts (seat belts and safety was what Ford was pushing for with there life guard package, that wasn't popular at the time, but remained even with low interest) and another safety feature of the Turnpike Cruiser was a padded dash, something that was quite the concept, as most dashes where often all metal, thus they could really mess a person in a crash, also a deep dish steering wheel was also safety feature of this car, along with all other Ford products of the time, the deep dish steering wheel also was much safer when in a crash, as you <b>...</b>
