By this time, the Cruiser had lost out to Park Lane as the top dog at Mercury! What we had here was a distinct departure from what Ford and Lincoln were doing. It appeared to be a very "futuristic" car....one that might be associated with the "Jetsons", a popular TV show at the time. Ready for intergalactic travel! The pushbutton controls for the "multi-drive" transmission attempted to put several functions in this control center. One was a button for neutral, that when fully depressed, started the car. Who says pushbutton start is new?
