Peugeot 3008 E
Description
This is Peugeot's new Ford Kuga/Nissan Qashqai/VW Tiguan rival. The 3008 might be based on the 308 SW/Citroën C4 Picasso platform but only has five seats and with a torsion-beam rear suspension, it has no 4X4 capability either. Instead, it gets (admittedly rather attractive) pseudo off-roader styling, a neat fold-down tailgate capable of supporting two adult bums and heaps of family-friendly features, including 50 litres of cabin storage space, three 12V sockets and a rechargeable torch built into the boot, as well as rear-side sun blinds and privacy glass on some models. It also gets an suspiciously Audi-esque dashboard with a Head-Up Display and what also appears to be a variation of Audi's MMI on navigation-equipped versions. Two 1.6 petrol engines will be offered one normally aspirated with 120hp, the other turbo-charged with 150hp as well as an 110hp, 1.6-litre turbo-diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with 150hp (or 163hp in auto versions). A diesel hybrid version is also planned for 2011 and it will employ a rear electric motor to give the 3008 all-wheel-drive capability. With 200hp and 500Nm of torque (200Nm of that available from standstill) it should be quick too, while also offering average fuel consumption as low as 4l/100km and a CO2 output of just 109g/km. Meanwhile, Peugeot has said that ESC with five-stage traction control; air conditioning with an air quality sensor; and an electronic parking brake with hill-start assist will be standard on all versions ...
