Entry from: Iquitos, Peru Entry Title: "Jungle Time" Entry: "So it was time to hit the biggest beast in South America... THE AMAZON (if I could make the font bigger I would!) and what a magnificant beast she is (definately a woman!!)...AMAZING... We joined the Amazon river right at its very start point where a number of smaller river converge to give birth to the biggest water system in the world (didn´t check this fact, made it up, sounds good though!!) We took to the waters from Nauta in a river ferry boat with our guide Andre. Nauta is a 2 hour car ride from Iquitos and up until 6 years ago the only way to get here was on a 15 hour ferry from Iquitos. Development was soon on the heels of this new road and the town has its own brewery and everyone now has a mobile phone! Honda have a factory here too to take care of the Tuk-Tuk business! (mototaxis - motorbikes sort of converted into mini cabs....a great idea for Wexford... you could call the business ´Townie Tuk-Tuks´!) A few hours downstream of Nauta we met Andre´s brother, Juan, and swapped boats into a wooden canoe and headed for camp, some 5 hours from the port of Nauta. Pink dolphins graced our journey... an amazing sight (they only become pink after about 6-7 years, before this time they are grey)...as I said to SJ, I might get some for the <b>...</b>
