Entry from: San Francisco, United States Entry Title: "Alcatraz, the Bridge and Lombard Street" Entry: "We had to get up to San Fran pretty early as we'd already book a trip out to the most famous prison in the world at 4pm. And boy aren't we glad we had some extra time. The Journey up was uneventful. Basically just freeway with nothing but tarmac. We could have gone the scenic route along Route 1 again but as I already said we had to get up there asap. So arriving in San Fran by about 1pm we checked into the hotel and found out that they charge $45 / day to park your car!!! That's almost as much as what we paid for the damn hotel! So we thought we'd be clever and say no thanks we'll leave it on the street..... Big mistake until the Marky factor kicked in! So in Fishermans Wharf all the street parking is 2 hour parking and costs **** loads per hour. Also they have signs all over the place to say don't park here at certain times cause street cleaning happens. So we drove around trying to find somewhere to park without success( A very, very good way to see the city actually). Decided the best thing to do was not worry about it and head on down to the docks to catch the boat to Alcatraz. Only problems was..... yep all 2 hour parking and paid parking in the lots was sooooo expensive. Here it comes <b>...</b>
