The European Parliament has updated the system for examining asylum claims. Now, plans are afoot to categorise gay and lesbian refugees as a "special needs" group. It will also see officials trained on sensitivity. A gay military group is accusing the White House of excluding them from an event intended to highlight US service members and their families. Michelle Obama launched the Joining Forces campaign on Tuesday. British actor Sir Ian McKellen has this week completed a nationwide tour of 52 UK secondary schools in a bid to beat homophobia. The Lord of the Rings star led the Education For All initiative for gay-equality charity Stonewall. A Facebook group has been found outing Australia's gay military personnel. At least 80 people from the Australian Defence Force are already signed up to the page, which claims to inform who is "biting the pillow." Finally, actress Helen Mirren locked lips with a Marilyn Monroe look-a-like last weekend, as part of New York's hit show Saturday Night Live. The actress also joked that Elton John is a "queen".
