Entry from: Florence, Italy Entry Title: "In Tuscany: land of perfectionism" Entry: "Today we bid Venezia farewell for Florence (or Firenze, as it is known to the Italians). Much to our dismay, the day was gorgeous: sunny and without the hostile cold wind we'd experienced yesterday. We opted out of the frighteningly expensive water taxi ride for the ferry experience along with the locals. It turned out to be a much more pleasant experience than I'd anticipated; at least the weather was favourable for standing with my luggage in the outside covered part near the exit... The pressing Italian crowd was the negative factor, but I was starting to get used to them, and in a way it was somewhat dejavu from experiences in Argentina. As I mentioned in yesterday's entry, today I bought a carnival mask. I made sure that I'd had breakfast and was ready early and then went out in search of a mask I'd wanted to buy. The problem with buying masks in Venice is that they're EVERYWHERE, making it a nightmare task for someone like me who is bent on finding the right item at the right price. However, having waited until this morning had the advantage of comparing prices and mask types to find what I wanted. The masks are the symbol of il Carnevale di Venezia which takes place before Lent. The carnival dates back to <b>...</b>
